On Saturday, January 19th ETFO members participated in the inaugural Women’s March in Owen Sound. Approximately 60 people braved the cold to discuss and raise awareness of women’s issues including women’s health care, women’s safety, and women’s economic security. Thank you to the organizers of the march for all of their efforts.
On November 15th we celebrated ETFO’s 20th Anniversary with our General Meeting and Trivia Night. During the business portion of the evening, new teachers in attendance were recognized and members who have completed 25 years of service were honoured. After the meeting members enjoyed a birthday party inspired dinner, complete with birthday cake followed by an exciting evening of team trivia. Fun was had by all!
Each year the Bluewater Local Executive selects a non-profit organization to make a donation to upon the passing of a member’s loved one. In 2018 – 2019 the Local will be making donations to the Georgian Riding Association for Challenged Riders, (G.R.A.C.E.), a registered charity organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding lessons for challenged children and adults in Grey and Bruce counties.
On January 16th, 2018 the Political Action/Public Relations Committee hosted a Community Discussion on Public Education. A panel consisting of a teacher, parents and a representing many community agencies, trustees, politicians, parents and teachers engaged in discussion on issues of class size, specialist teachers, special education, equity and inclusion and standardized testing.
ETFO Bluewater is proud to support a number of local organizations and initiatives.

In 2017 – 2018 the Local will be making donations to the Wes for Youth Online, an online safe space where teens in Grey Bruce and surrounding areas can express themselves and get free support from professional, non-judgemental counsellors.
