Sympathy Donations for 2022/23

Each year the Bluewater Local Executive selects a non-profit organization to make a donation to upon the passing of a member’s loved one. In 2022 – 2023 the Local will be making donations to Second Chance Kids. Second Chance Kids is a volunteer-run registered charity that provides financial support to families in Grey & Bruce counties whose children are under 19 years of age and require lengthy out-of-town hospitalization. We offer both financial and emotional support, as well as advocacy.

In 2019 – 2020 the Local will be making donations to Chapman House, a residential hospice in Owen Sound, that provides expert end-of-life care while supporting the families in their journey.

Silent Auction Fundraiser, October 24th 2019

On October 24th, 2019 the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, Bluewater Local hosted their 19th annual Silent Auction Fundraiser in support of local Women’s Shelters. Hosted by the Local’s Status of Women Committee, the event included raffle draws, a silent auction and a live purse auction. Raffle prizes were graciously donated by local businesses in the Grey-Bruce area. The baskets available in the silent auction were created and donated by the staff at elementary schools within the Bluewater District School Board. The basket themes were creative and fun. At the end of the evening the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, Bluewater Local donated $3205.00 to The Women’s Centre and another $3205.00 to Women’s House serving Bruce and Grey.
