Community Discussion on Public Education

On January 16th, 2018 the Political Action/Public Relations Committee hosted a Community Discussion on Public Education. A panel consisting of a teacher, parents and a representing many community agencies, trustees, politicians, parents and teachers engaged in discussion on issues of class size, specialist teachers, special education, equity and inclusion and standardized testing. Many concerns were raised regarding resources and supports available to students. A presentation was made on the education funding formula and how reductions have affected schools. The event was successful in bringing together a variety of stakeholders in public education and providing the opportunity to discuss current issues.
